What Has Been Going On Behind The Scenes

Hey everyone,

Today’s email is just a quick update on what has been happening behind the scenes in the Dojo.

Over the last two or three months we have been making a lot of incremental one percent type changes. Small structural improvements to the content I am making, the coaching I am doing, the classes, all of that.

I figured this was a good time to let you know what we are doing now, what is about to be released, and how we got here.

I am not trying to do some big sales pitch. I just know most of you here follow what I am doing pretty closely, and I want to give you early access so you do not miss anything if you are interested.

The New VIP Tier We Are Testing

We are about to release a VIP tier in the Dojo.

For now it is only for five people. This is very much a trial phase because I want to make sure I do this the right way before expanding it to maybe ten to fifteen people a month.

The idea is simple. It is about two hours of coaching total for the price of one. I charge one hundred twenty dollars per hour for coaching, so the VIP tier will be two hours worth of coaching built around one focused improvement plan.

This is what we are experimenting with. A lot of people have asked about live coaching. I even scrolled through my old channel recently and saw some of the old live coaching videos. People really enjoyed those and learned a lot from them.

I shied away from it because live pubs can be terrible quality. Someone gives up, the game ends in twenty minutes, and then my choice is to either cut the session short or spend an hour and forty five minutes on something that was supposed to be one hour.

And on top of that, it is incredibly difficult to learn a new concept while you are playing a live Dota match.

So this format solves both issues.

How The VIP Coaching Works

The structure is ninety minutes together at the start.

The first thirty minutes is a replay review where we identify one to three things in your gameplay that you need to change.

Then we queue a live game and I coach you purely through the lens of those things. Nothing else.

If the focus is defensive aggro, then everything I am saying is about defensive aggro. I am not talking about your laning stage, or your itemization, or five other topics. Just the one thing we identified.

After that you get a thirty minute async replay review two to three weeks later. You send a new replay, I record the video, and we see if you improved, where you may have overcorrected, and what to adjust moving forward.

I know it will be useful. I am just not entirely sure how useful yet. That is why the first run is limited to five people.

What We Have Added In The Last Few Months

When I look back, none of this existed three months ago.

We started turning classes into shorts so people get small pieces of what we are teaching each week. A few of those go out every week now.

We expanded the classes. Half of them are streamed on Twitch so more people can see them. The other half are kept inside the Dojo.

We added mindset classes every other Sunday. We have done three so far. The next one is about communication and making calls in Dota, how to reframe that, and how to become better in game leaders or at least play out your own vision in a clearer way.

We brought on Erfan who is doing his own classes once a week. Attendance for his classes has been great. People clearly like him, which is awesome because I want you all to get value beyond just what I personally do.

He and I are also working on a fundamental Dota guide. From literally entering the game to what it takes to win, to a shared vocabulary for what we should prioritize. That is a bigger project, slower, but important.

More Coaching Content Is Going Out

We also launched the BSJ Coaches YouTube channel.

Every coaching session is going up there with player name, role, MMR, and hero. Between that content, the classes, and the regular videos, we are putting out three to four times as much material per week as we were three months ago.

It is all out there if you want it. You can find the links in the profile or in the Dojo Discord.

Reopening Dojo Signups

We started with one hundred founding members. Around seventy five to eighty stayed. A fourth left for totally understandable reasons. Some literally said they plan to come back because they were not using it right now.

Because of that we are reopening signups. We are adding around twenty five to fifty new spots along with the VIP release.

If you want to attend classes, join the community discussions, or be part of this early building phase, this is the right time.

A Small Personal Reflection

If I am honest, the growth has felt really slow. We do one or two new things every week, and in the moment it feels like nothing.

But when I rewind three months, we were doing none of this. It is unrecognizable.

So part of this is me taking a second to appreciate what we have been building. I do not do that often. It is easy for me to move on to the next thing without acknowledging the work that has already been done.

And the other part is the people behind the scenes.

I have never really delegated or trusted others with anything I care about. I always double checked everything. I never liked group projects. I never truly worked with a team.

Now I have facilitators, moderators, and people behind the scenes who show up consistently, bring ideas I never would have thought of, and help me build something bigger than I could do on my own.

It has been awesome. I feel seen, understood, and supported in a way I never really experienced in my work life.

If You Want To Join Or Work With Me Directly

We are opening five VIP coaching spots. First come, first serve.

We are reopening regular Dojo spots as well.

There will be a full VIP announcement inside the Dojo. If you are in the Discord, you will see it right away.

Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of this. I look forward to working with those of you who decide to jump in, and to keep improving myself as a coach along the way.

See you inside,
BSJ
